NothingFishy Complete Collagen Packaging ChangeUpdated 22 days ago
Why the packaging change for Complete Collagen?
The original fully compostable pouch let in too much moisture. VeCollal® (our vegan collagen base) is naturally hygroscopic - it loves water - which is great for solubility and absorption, but it makes the powder sensitive to humidity once opened. We refused to compromise on product quality, so we chose better protection to keep every scoop as effective as the first.
What’s the new packaging, and is it still eco-friendly?
It’s now a mono-material kraft paper pouch with a thin inner layer of 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic - meaning we’re only repurposing existing plastic, not adding new.The pouch is fully recyclable (not compostable like our other products or the old version), but it still fits our ocean-friendly ethos: minimal new impact, maximum product protection.
How do I recycle the new pouch?
Easy steps:
- Go to the Recycle Now website
- Search “plastic bags and wrapping”
- Enter your postcode to see if you can recycle at home or find the nearest drop-off (often your local supermarket) Clear instructions are also printed right on the pouch.
Is the packaging food-safe?
Absolutely. It’s passed strict food-contact safety tests. The protective layer only keeps moisture out - it never touches the collagen itself.
Does this mean more plastic overall?
No new plastic is being created. We use a small amount of recycled PCR plastic for protection, and we offset the carbon footprint of all our packaging (this included) through SeaTrees. That supports mangrove planting in Kenya plus other coastal restoration projects - helping oceans and communities at the same time.
Will the collagen quality or formula change?
Not at all. The recipe (VeCollal®, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, no fillers) stays exactly the same - clinically proven and scientifically backed. The only difference is that it’s now better shielded from humidity so it stays in top condition right to the last scoop.
