What is algae and how is it grown?Updated 17 days ago

Microalgae are tiny, single-celled marine plants. They are where omega-3 begins in the ocean's food chain - fish only have it because they eat algae.

We grow our own algae in controlled tanks on land, away from the ocean. Two reasons:

1. Quality control: Growing on land lets us monitor the water, the light, and every other variable. The result is a pure, traceable harvest - no exposure to ocean pollution, microplastics or heavy metals.
2. No ocean impact: Our process contributes nothing to overfishing or bycatch - the trapping of dolphins, whales and turtles in commercial fishing nets. We get the same fatty acids without taking anything from the sea.
